?Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies and antibody pairs available in carrier-free formats for easy antibody-labeling and sandwich immunoassay development.
???Standard RabMAb? rabbit monoclonal antibodies are stored in a solution phosphate buffered saline (PBS) with several key carriers: bovine serum albumin (BSA), glycerol, and sodium azide.
While BSA and azide are essential components for maintaining antibody stability and preventing antibody contamination, these components can also hinder effective conjugation to fluorochromes, metals, and enzymes.
BSA competes with the primary antibody to attach to the label of interest, which greatly reduces the conjugation efficiency. The presence of sodium azide in the antibody solution can be toxic to cells, limiting the antibody's use in cell culture. In addition, sodium azide can interfere with antibody conjugation and inhibits the activity of horseradish peroxidase (HRP).
To give you the flexibility you need, we've reformulated over 7,000 of our antibodies and antibody pairs to be carrier-free, that is, BSA and azide-free, making them ideal for easy antibody labeling and functional assays.
Avoid antibody loss using Abcam's range of carrier-free antibodies, specifically designed for antibody labeling. Carrier-free antibodies are conjugation-ready and there is no need to perform buffer exchange or concentration. Simply add the antibody directly into the conjugation reaction.
Our carrier-free formats are the ideal research tools for developing multiplex assay where you need to build your own panel of conjugated antibodies. These technologies include: flow-based assays (e.g. CyTOF?) or multiplex IHC assays (e.g. Imaging Mass Cytomtery? [IMC?], Cyclic Immunofluorescence [CycIF]).
CyTOF? (Cytometry by Time Of Flight) is a novel flow cytometry platform that uses metal-conjugated antibodies to characterize and quantify more than 40 parameters simultaneously at the single cell level.
Imaging Mass Cytometry? combines the advantages of metal-conjugated antibodies and immunohistochemical/immunocytochemical methods to study cell-cell interactions at the subcellular resolution and delineate tumor heterogeneity.

Our carrier-free pairs are conjugation-ready and ideal for non-conventional ELISA-based assays requiring different platforms.
